When reporting scientific and/or common names, are we to use the names given in the journal, or are we meant to research its modern classification? Given the age of these journals, probably about 99% of the species will have been reclassified at some point between then and now, including this baboon here.

(I always search the 'currently used' common names)

If you could keep the names to ones located in the journal or time as much as possible that's ideal. If you find the modern scientific name - then it would be great to add that keywords, and maybe we can have a talk hashtag or group for difference between historical and modern scientific names.

Agreed - add the name as used in the journal since we are focused on science as it was done in the 19th century. But then you can also add the current classification either under scientific name or keyword and I like the idea of a hashtag for modern and historical names.
