  Certainly one of the joys of sciencegossip - the uniquely Victorian way of phrasing good and bad news. Just wait until you find an example where one naturalist finds another disagreeable! Oh the colour in their prose.

  I have a bit of a passion for Arctic and Antarctic explorers - this is wonderful! This must have been the penultimate voyage of HMS Terror and HMS Erebus before the ill-fated Franklin expedition of 1845.
