Not being a scientist, I suspect it may be something Botanical, but what? Should we guess or put a question mark or just unknown?

Thos are various desmidieae - or fresh water algae. In cases like this when there is no information, you can click the BHL original source button, which takes you to the periodical page in it's original order. Which means that will often find the description or at least some details on a surrounding page.
